Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer financing?
Yes, you can get your projects completed without any upfront cost.
Do I need to know the exact problem before calling?
Not at all. Most homeowners aren’t sure what’s causing the issue — that’s what we’re here for. Just tell us what you’re experiencing, even if you’re unsure how to describe it.
How quickly can you come out?
We offer timely troubleshooting appointments and do our best to get to urgent issues as soon as possible. If something feels unsafe, let us know right away.
Do you offer emergency electrical services?
If you have an electrical emergency, we’ll do our best to help — whether that’s talking you through the issue over the phone or sending someone out as soon as we can. Site visits depend on urgency and availability, but active projects and warranty customers come first.
Is it safe to wait before getting an issue checked?
Electrical issues often start small but can get worse over time. It’s best to have them looked at early so we can prevent further damage and make sure everything stays safe.
What if the issue turns out to be something simple?
That’s completely okay — simple fixes are more common than people think. For a few easy, low-risk checks, we’ll often walk you through them first to help you avoid a trip if it isn’t needed. If the issue requires a technician, we’ll take it from there safely and professionally.
What if my power problem comes and goes?
Intermittent issues are very common. We can still diagnose the underlying cause by checking your breakers, wiring, load, and connections.
What should I expect for cost?
We charge a fixed rate for the troubleshooting visit. Once we find the cause, we’ll walk you through the options. In many cases, we can provide a free quote for the repair, but some situations are best handled with simple time-and-material work. We’ll always explain which approach makes the most sense before moving forward.
What if I think I smell something burning or see sparks?
If you smell burning, see smoke, or feel unsafe, turn off the affected breaker immediately and contact us. Safety comes first, and we’ll help you from there.
Important! If the situation feels urgent or you believe you’re in danger, please call 911 before anything else.
Can you help me decide what I actually need?
Absolutely.
We inspect your panel, evaluate power demand, listen to your goals, and guide you to the safest, smartest upgrade — whether that’s a new panel, a service upgrade, or something else.
What common electrical service sizes are there?
Most homes have electrical services ranging from 100A to 200A, with 200A being the current standard for modern houses. Older homes may still have 60A or 100A, while larger or high-demand homes may use 300A or 400A service. Luxury or all-electric homes with heavy loads (EV chargers, instant water heaters, pools, etc.) may require 400A or higher. We assess your home’s needs and recommend the right size for safety and future capacity.
How do I know what electrical service size I have?
You can usually find your service size by checking the main breaker at the top of your electrical panel — it’s typically labeled 60A, 100A, 150A, 200A, or 400A. If the labeling is unclear or the panel is older, we can quickly confirm the true service rating during an inspection.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes — every installation includes a 1-year warranty on parts and labor (special terms and conditions apply).
What information is helpful to share with the technician?
You don’t need to know anything technical — just describe what you’ve noticed. It’s helpful if you can share things like:
1) What was happening when the issue started (e.g., “The lights flickered when the dryer ran.”)
2) Whether it’s constant or comes and goes
3) Any sounds, smells, or visual changes (like buzzing, a faint burning smell, or dimming lights)
4) Which rooms or outlets are affected
5) If you’ve already tried anything (like resetting the breaker or testing a different device)
6) Any recent weather, renovation, or appliance changes
This helps the technician narrow things down faster — but even if you’re unsure, that’s completely okay. Just tell us what you can, and we’ll take it from there.
What are some simple things I can check myself?
If something won’t turn on, try plugging it into a different outlet.
Sometimes it’s the device, not the outlet.
If a few outlets suddenly stop working, try pressing the RESET button on any outlet with little buttons (usually in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, or outside).
If a light won’t turn on, try putting in a new lightbulb.
Even brand-new bulbs can be bad sometimes.
If an outdoor outlet stopped working after rain, check if the outlet cover was left open. If it got wet, let it dry — it may start working again once it’s fully dry.
If something stopped working right after you plugged in a new appliance, try unplugging that item. Some things pull more power than you’d expect.
A lightning strike happened — do I need to call an electrician?
Yes, it’s wise to have an electrician take a look after a lightning strike. Surges can cause hidden issues that aren’t always visible. We can perform a lightning strike evaluation and check whether your home has proper surge protection to help prevent future problems.
How do you know if my home is using more power than my electrical system can handle?
We check your panel for signs of overload (tripped breakers, hot spots, buzzing, flickering lights) and review the major appliances and upgrades in your home. We also offer an optional professional load calculation service. If your usage is above the recommended 80% capacity—or you’re planning new high-demand equipment—we’ll let you know that your home needs more electrical capacity.
Will a panel replacement fix my flickering lights?
Sometimes — but not always. Flickering lights can be caused by a failing panel or loose connections inside it, but they can also come from overloaded circuits, failing light fixtures, old wiring, or issues from the utility. A panel replacement will fix the problem only if the panel itself is the source. During our inspection, we discuss options to track down the root cause within your budget.
Will a panel replacement fix my tripping breakers?
It can — if the panel or breakers are the problem. Breakers may trip because they’re old, worn out, or part of an unsafe panel brand, and replacing the panel can solve that. But breakers also trip when a circuit is overloaded, when there’s a fault in wiring or appliances, or when your home simply needs more electrical capacity. We diagnose the probable cause first so you only replace the panel if there is a high likelihood of fixing the issue.
